Agents Note

This Grade 11 listed property was built in the Georgian period and reputed to be the Gate House to Norton Hall.

During the Georgian period from about 1750 Norton was a thriving agricultural centre.

Much of the High Street was built by the landed gentry during this time.

From the mid nineteenth century Victorian industrialists, who made fortunes through industry on Teesside, considered Norton the place to live and bought property on the High Street.

The properties where then, to greater or lesser extent, altered and extended.

The Victorians were particularly fond of bay windows.

Norton is Medieval in origin with the Green and High Street dating from Anglo Saxon times.

Much Anglo Saxon archaeology has been found and parts of the Unicorn Pub have been dated to the Elizabethan period.
